The trademark registration in OAPI only can include 3 classes. You may need to pay extra fee for every extra class from the fourth class and above. The member countries of the OAPI are the following: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon,, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Equatorial guinea, Gabon, Guinea, Guinea Bissau,. Ivory coast, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal and Togo
It takes 2-3 months to get the official receipt. A typical application in OAPI takes about 24-30 months to complete. This is a smooth case that no refusal and no opposition arise. The validity of trademark is 10 years.
The documents required are the name and address of applicant, goods or service, the logo and the copy of applicant’s ID.
